The House

The cabin has 8 bedrooms, all of which have a queen bed with a foam gel topper. In 2 of the bedrooms, one upstairs/one downstairs, there is a set of bunk beds. Also, in another room, we have a twin mattress that pulls out from underneath the queen bed. There is a large great room - approximately 30 x 40 ft - large enough for dancing, freeze tag, exercising (if anyone wants to do that on vacation time :)), or just running around for the little ones. Our favorite activity for that room is 9-Square-in-the-Air game! We also have a folding cot that can be put in any of the bedrooms for an extra person

In this great room there are four booths for eating - think of Applebee’s booths. Plus we have 3 folding tables and 25+ folding chairs.

The kitchen is very industrial like - with most of the cooking equipment coming from restaurants that we serviced over the years. It should have anything, and everything, you should need. And a never ending ice machine to die for. ***We have a full set of ‘tableware’ (cups, plates, bowls, silverware) available for use. ****Bring paper goods if you’d prefer not to wash the dishes!

On the bottom floor we have 4 bedrooms with a handicap accessible bathroom, plus a single toilet room, a shower/tub combo and a single shower. Upstairs we have 4 more bedrooms, 2 toilet rooms, and 2 tub/showers.

In our upstairs loft area, we have an Air Hockey game, Basketball Shoot-Out game, Pool Table, extra large couch, huge LoveSac (sorry, that’s the name!), and a large TV with some cable stations. Please note that although we have Frontier internet, it is not super fast and can sometimes cause buffering in shows. Our DVD player allows you to bring your own movies (we do have a few available) to watch an uninterrupted favorite movie. If you’d like to download movies and play them off of your computer, then that can be done too. We also have a few books to read or look over, but bring yours and curl up on our amazing porch to read! On top of that we have a Table Shuffleboard game and an arcade game system with over 1000 games located in our small bonus room.

Our favorite part of our home is the porch - thus the name Porchy Pines. The porch wraps around 3 sides of the home and has chairs, rockers and a bench to sit on. More will be added!

Outside we have 3 tall tree swings, a bunkhouse that has a twin over full and a twin over twin. Linen is provided for the bunkhouse. Our newest addition is another bunkhouse, called the ‘Doug-Out’, which can sleep up to up to 8 more guests. We have two lofts with queen size mattresses, a built in bunk of twin beds, and a couch that can convert into another queen size sleeping area. All linen is provided for this bunkhouse as well.

Our Sports Court is now available to use! We have two pickleball courts with nets to set up when you want to play. Our basketball court, while not quite full size is ready for players. We have lots of equipment for sports play; pickleball racquets and balls, tennis racquets/balls, a few bats/baseballs/gloves; bocce ball, 2 horseshoe pits, basketballs, footballs, etc. Hopefully there’s enough fun things to choose to do! Lastly, our newest toy to play with is a ping pong table. It can be played indoors or outside. It is stored covered on the porch and just needs to be wheeled inside to have a great game of table tennis!

We have added a soft Ice Cream machine recently! The rental fee includes one batch, including cones, which makes about 30-35 normal - 4 oz. size cones. You would have the choice of only vanilla, or only chocolate, - or the ability to have half vanilla & half chocolate to have swirled cones.

If additional ice cream is wanted, there is a $20 fee per half batch.

The Property

Our 3+ acre property is located smack in the middle of Heber and Overgaard. It is back off the main highway, about a mile in a nice, uncrowded neighborhood. We are backed by County property which has several shorter walking/hiking/biking trails that are easily accessible through our back gate. In 5 minutes time you can be in Tall Timbers County Park where there is a playground, sand volleyball court, softball/kickball field, several ramadas, even a raised ramada with plenty of benches to put on your own show! An impressive 9 ‘hole’ Frisbee Golf Course. Also, a semi-usable graffiti decorated racquetball court:).

Next to the park on the west, is a graveled road that you can ride back in several miles and just view the pretty countryside. Nearby lakes include Black Canyon Lake, Blevins Lake - both about 10 miles from Heber/Overgaard and can be fished in. Twin Lakes is also nearby for trout, and rainbow catching possibility. We are about 20 minutes drive to Woods Canyon Lake, where you can rent canoes and kayaks. (Check before you head that way to make sure these are available).

On highway 260, in the middle of Heber, there is an impressive and unique wood carving and creation shop. Wild Woods is a must stop and see. Look for the green aliens!

The Big Red Barn is a weekend swap meet with local artisans crafts and food. This is located just on the right hand side of the highway as you enter Heber from the west.

Rock House Museum is located directly in Heber. This museum is a time capsule of life in the 40’s, 50’s, and 60’s. Audio tours are available and activity booklets for children. You might need to schedule an appointment.

Escape Rooms Heber is about a 5 minute drive into Overgaard area. Call to make sure they are open, but they are a 5 Star business!

Raney Ranch is a nearby place for Horseback Riding.

If you are looking for a place to buy gifts, check out AZ Wildlife Gallery. There is sculpture, metal art, potter, jewelry, etc. There are some beautiful aluminum sculptures found right on Highway 260 (across from Ace Hardware) that have almost every animal that you’d want to have in your yard, or home. They also have a gift shop of western decorations and ornaments. Check them out during your stay.

For ‘live entertainment’ check out The Zane Grey Clubhouse. They provide local jam music, plus they have ‘special events’ usually on Saturday. Call to see what is happening during your stay.

Show Low, Pinetop/Lakeside, Snowflake/Taylor, are all a short drive for a variety of other activities or events. Check out their cities listings of upcoming events and possible entertainment venues.

There are two small local grocery stores and two family dollar stores nearby.

For the men: An impressive Ace Hardware and also a True Value Hardware.

For the women: 3 local thrift stores and antique stores.
